Bonita Samuels Action Based Learning Lab at Marshall School - South Orange & Maplewood, NJ

Marshall School has launched a new program that focuses on cognitive development and kinesthetic learning through physical activity. The Action Based Learning Lab houses equipment for students to improve learning during and after purposeful movement. The ABL Lab is designed for students to work through a series of stations with their classroom teachers.

The concepts in the Action Based Learning Lab are based on the brain research that supports the link of movement and physical activity to increased academic performance. The Action Based Learning Lab targets the young developing brain ages 4-7 years.

Marshall Principal, Bonita Samuels and teachers Michele Kaesshaefer and Rhonda Wyche attended a four-day institute to become Action Based Learning Certified Trainers. They plan to facilitate staff Professional Development in the coming days. In addition, part of the student learning will focus on beginning neuroscience and provide information on how the brain works.

 


 

 

ABL Founder, Jean Blaydes Moize has partnered with Marshall School, Judy LoBianco and the South Orange-Maplewood School District Physical Education Department to equip Marshall School with professional development training and Action Based Learning equipment.
