Students walk the alphabet, A-Z to learn letters kinesthetically!

Movement Activities on the mat are endless, allow the student to learn the letters of the alphabet kinesthetically. Walking the ABC Pathways mat, the student is able to kinesthetically trace each letter of the alphabet, while strengthening gross motor skills, eye tracking, and cross lateralization - 3 foundations critical to learning.

Integrating Movement with Academics in the ABL Lab

To start, students will work only on balance by moving the marble through the figure 8 and waves on the board. As basic movements are mastered, progressions can be added to introduce academic content. Student's can work on teacher provided content with a partner, using flash cards, or from the smart board. 

The mat uses eye tracking skills which are important for reading and copying information from the board to paper. It also practices using peripheral vision to increase eye fitness. Children can learn their numbers, letters, punctuation, and more!

836 ABL Learning Assessment Steps

[Pre K - 2nd Grade] ABL Assessment steps are used in the ABL Learning Lab at the early elementary level. Children begin by walking up and down stairs, and increase difficulty using progressions as laid out in the ABL Lab Manual. As children advance, they hold various objects to engage the full body while encourage balance, proprioception, crossing the midline, and motor skills. More advanced learners, will be able to utilize ABL Academic Card Sets as part of the Assessment Steps Station, to anchor learning and improve retention and memory retrieval in the classroom.

825 ABL Platform Steps

[3rd - 6th Grade] ABL Platform steps are used in the ABL Learning Lab for ages 3rd grade through 6th grade. The platform steps are triple the size and manufactured for heavy duty, high frequency use.  One side of the stairs offers  large platform steps for increased stride length, while the other side offers 6 smaller steps to challenge balance and spatial awareness. The sturdy solid wood frame is the perfect way for students to practice the 12 foundations of learning readiness.  Dimensions: L82 x W35 x H30"

The Patterned Walking Mat patented design helps students make connections in the brain considered critical to learning. Each walking pattern is a series of progressions that prepares the brain for learning. Crossover and grapevine patterns focus on crossing the midline of the body. Students transition between 3 locomotor patterns including heel to toe, grapevine, and cross over - student is actively engaging in low level balance challenges and cross lateralization activities.
